I will be putting together a weekend curse for the CJA for the fall winter. We should be able to work a joint course out.

How many in Red Deer would be interested in a course?

So here is a question I have been wanting to ask.
How many of the -oIIIIIIIo- OUT-BACK boys and girls use a CB, HAM or no radio in there rigs.
I have been looking at the cobra all in the handle, CB radio but I am hearing more and more about the Ham Radio and I don't want to buy a dead horse. Any input would help.
Thanks
Rick

I'll try to answer these in order.

First Waytec's...do you have any other info on this course? Cost, time, what is covered, etc? Sorry...I must have completely missed your reply to this.

And Kneedeep....I would hazard a guess to say that the majority of users are CB users, not Ham radio. CB's can be picked up anywhere, and do no require a special license or course.

Sorry guys I looked into it and then completely forgot to post. I talked to a couple of places and was told to get back to them to them in the summer because I was inquiring about late fall winter classes. I will get back in touch with them over the next couple of days.

My experience is get a CB and then up grad to the Ham later.
CB’s are cheep and easy communications. FRS don’t work all that well in the bush and I don’t trust them.
Ham you need to take a course and then purchase the unit. Costly but is a good investment. I would consider it a mod to the rid due to the coast of everything.
