For some info. I have a 2000 tj with a Dana 44 rear and the stock Dana 30 front. My front axle has given me nothing but issues over the years I've owned my jeep. I'm looking for something that will last a little longer. Not going any larger than 35" tires.

Current I'm running into issues with my pinion bearing dying (yet again) and the wheel bearings burning out really quick. I've just replaced my unit bearings with timken bearings and they're already getting a little play in them less than a year later.

I've looked into the hp Dana 30 but I'm still running into the wheel bearring problem. Which is getting expensive quick. I'd rather not put more money into something that will have the same flaws mine has.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should look for? I guess maybe I just needed to rant about my annoying axle haha.

Two tone blue 2000/04 tj. Rubicon tcase, truetrac, Aussie locker, and some bits and pieces.

Switch to locking hubs. Ditch the unit-bearings.

High pinion, switch to traditional bearings and locking hubs. You'll have to go 5x5.5 tho. I don't know if you can switch it out otherwise. And you rear shafts, are they dual pattern? If you're lucky the second pattern is CJ, if not, well, time for new shafts again!! But honestly, you'd probably be able to run an HP 30, and have less headaches. Talk to Andy. He'll steer you in the right direction.
